New and unique book to help with commercial and cmmunication skills
by Pamela Girling
|
Hi, We were wondering if we could get some feedback from the US and the rest of the world? As an optometrist I realised early in my career that although I was well trained and well qualified clinically, I was missing a lot of skills to do with patient and practice team communication, human behaviour, and commercial "selling" or influencing skills. Some research has shown that this appears to be a common theme in optometry across the world - great clinicains in the most part, but not always so hot at dealing with the public in a way that faciliates profitable dispensing that is a win win. Please don't misunderstand me - clinical excellence must never come second to profit,....... and we all have our bills to pay, or repay the faith our employer has shown in us right? The UK is pretty bad at preparing or training OO's or DO's in these skills and I was wondering what other people thought, or how they had coped?
My husband (a human behaviour trainer) and I have written a book to address this educational gap called "Buy My Specs, an effective guide to patient and practice team management, increasing staff motivation and sales" Since it's launch in January we have been suprised and humbled to find that it has sold well not only in the UK but in other countries as well, and without any real marketing. We would welcome any feedback on both the book, this posting or the website which is www.buymyspecs.com
Our inention is to keep good clinicians where they should be - in optometry. many thanks |
